Richard Kuiper ziet zijn werk als een spagaat. Aan de ene kant geeft hij uiting aan zijn bewondering voor het materiaal, de uitvinding van het onvergankelijke. Aan de ander kant is zijn werk een waarschuwing en hoopt hij met zijn foto's te laten zien hoever we zijn doorgeschoten in het gebruik van plastic.
